Major Update to Accent Typing Programs
Monday, September 5, 2011 at 6:01PM
To download the latest version, please click here.
Changes:
1. To toggle CapsLock on and off, simply double-tap the CapsLock key.
2. Due to very popular demand, there is now an option to install the program and have it startup automatically.
While these are the only two changes, this is a pretty major update, mostly due to the new startup feature. I’ve tested extensively on my own computer, but I would not be surprised if these changes introduce some new bugs for some users (most probably those with non-standard keyboard layouts).

This is good news. But like you said, I'm pretty that there would bugs and I hope that that would be fixed before finally introducing it to the public.
Hi Haley, like I said in the post, I've tested this extensively myself, and have yet to find any bugs. The program is simple enough that there shouldn't be any problems (you can check out the source code yourself).
There's not really much more I can do to prevent any bugs. As I'm sure you know, Microsoft is famous for hiring brilliant programmers, yet no one is surprised when bugs in Windows are discovered.
Hi. I installed the latest version but for some reason I get unpredictable results. (I am using windows 7) For example, this is what I get when I type the CapsLock + E: ☺
CapsLock + A: ⌐ CapsLock + I: !
In excel I get entirely different results. I am sure this is user error but I can't figure out what the problem is!
Hi Amanda,
That's very, very strange. What programs are you trying to type in? Does it work correctly in any program?
All I have to say is that this is just wonderful. I downloaded it, I ran it, and I started using it. What could be easier?
My only gripe is that I didn't discover this before I committed to buying a Spanish keyboard.
When I clicked the "certified" link to the VirusTotal site it came to a page stating that it had passed 0/43 tests? I downloaded it anyway and scanned with my own tool, but you may want to investigate why VirusTotal doesn't seem to give you a pass?
Cheers
Just wanted to point out for any future readers that 0 is the best possible scoring from VirusTotal. It does not mean it passed no tests. It means it was scanned by 43 different virus scanning programs, and they detected no viruses.
Yeah, the old VirusTotal interface was much clearer that 0/43 is the best possible result. Thanks Rachel, for responding for me!
I've switched to a different virus-scan service that presents the results more clearly.
